At Rentosh, we believe in keeping things simple and transparent. This page outlines how our Lower Mainland BC Free Alpha handles your information.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the basic information needed to run the platform: your account details (email or phone, simple display name), the text and images of listings you create, and the messages you send to other users to coordinate a rental.
2. Location Usage
When you post a listing or search the market, we use general neighborhood names like "Downtown" or "Kitsilano" to show where items are located. We do not expose your exact home address on the platform.
3. Storage & Images
The images you upload for your listings and condition reports are stored securely in the cloud to be displayed to potential renters. Please do not upload photos containing sensitive personal information.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account data (profile, listings, messages) for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for fraud prevention. Anonymized usage data may be retained for analytics purposes.
5. Third-Party Services
Rentosh uses the following third-party services to operate the platform:
- Supabase — Database, authentication, and file storage (hosted in North America).
- Google Maps Platform — Map display and approximate location pins on listings.
- Vercel — Application hosting and content delivery.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party. These services process data solely to operate the features you use on Rentosh.
6. Cookies & Local Storage
Rentosh uses essential cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party analytics tools that profile your behavior across other websites.
7. Canadian Privacy Law (PIPEDA)
Rentosh is a Canadian company and complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Request deletion of your account and personal data.
